TEACHING

Paul is the NI Liaison teacher for the DACapo Foundation and teach a basic music foundation to 'Early Years' children normally in the age group 3-5.

Paul Marshall

...is a freelance percussionist and sound artist based in Bangor in Northern Ireland. He has been playing music for over 30 years and is the Director of the Powerhaus Project, a UK based percussion ensemble.

His work is diverse, and includes performance , sound design, facilitation / teaching in private, public and corporate environments, Visual art, and sound sculpture

INFLUENCES

Influences for his work are drawn from a global pool of musical and indigenous cultural elements. Performance work reflects aspects of Kodo drummers, Burundi Drummers and his Guru Trilok Gurtu amongst others.

Essentially self taught , he writes that "with the recent development of the Internet, it is becoming increasingly easy to access technical and practical aspects of playing instruments from all across the globe."

He adds, "With that in mind however, nothing can replace imagination, exploration, hard work and tenacity in the effort to excite an instrument to perform."
